Sorry about Becky’s hoodie.

Sunday, July 17th, 2011Chesney Hawkes: A Legend in the Park
Sunday, July 17th, 2011On Saturday 16th July we played at a festival called Legends in the Park with THE one and only legend himself, Chesney Hawkes.
We decided Vicki should attempt to kiss him (what a scoop), but sadly, as the day went on, we simply forgot to stalk him.
We were very excited about seeing him. What songs would he do? What other songs does he have? Would he do lots of different versions of The One and Only (a cappella, electronica, acoustic, full band etc…) for an hour and a half? Who IS the real Chesney?
Well, dear friends, here is a breakdown of what happened.
1. Chesney played mostly covers (interesting decision).
2. Chesney only did one version of The One and Only (questionable decision).
3. Chesney did his encore… with a Kings of Leon song (terrible decision).
Also: His band had to start Mr Brightside twice because they were out of time.
We are aware that this blog post is only about Chesney Hawkes, but quite rightly so.
What a man.
What a legend.
Sam <3
Sunday, July 17th, 2011Sam is the newest band member of Me and My Sister and is responsible for guitar and backing vocals. He enjoys singing at 50th birthday parties and Kesha (no dollar sign) dance routines. He is not a fan of mushrooms, but we’re working on that.
Here he is with Luke and some logs. He is the one without a guitar. We promise he can actually play, though…
We’re walking 27 miles for charity!
Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011 Yep, that’s right. Me and My Sister are hanging up the heels and cracking out the walking boots and lycra* for almost 27 miles of hell… err, we mean hiking, in an annual charity event called ‘Walk the Wight’. It takes place on our home-island of the Isle of Wight and is all in aid of raising money for the Earl Mountbatten Hospice, who care for people with life-shortening illnesses.
Any money you can spare, no matter how small or large the amount, will be so gratefully recieved… and it will really help spur us on. Because let’s face it, it is going to be really sweeting awful.
(And that’s just the prospect of wearing hiking boots – we haven’t even thought about the walk itself yet).
We’re currently still trying to convince the boys (Ross and Luke) to get involved… we’ll let you know if our bullying is successful nearer the time.
*NB: We will NOT actually be wearing Lyrca. All kinds of wrong.

Saturday, April 30th, 2011Me and My Sister on BBC 6 Music
Monday, April 4th, 2011Me and My Sister had our first ever BBC airplay on BBC 6 Music, Monday 4th April, on Tom Robinson’s ‘Fresh on the Net’ show. We filmed the whole thing, which in retrospect might not have been the greatest idea in the world, what with the lack of visuals ‘n’ all.
But still…
PS. We were on thee radios!!!
4 or 5 Magicians last ever gig
Sunday, April 3rd, 2011We recently supported 4 or 5 Magicians at their last ever gig. Probably the highlight of the night was after our set, when a random lady asked, ‘Which performing arts school did you girls go to? Because you must have learnt THAT from somewhere.’
Err… It would appear we were hamming it up again.
(Dresses from Black Orchid).
PS. We did not go to performing art school.
We’ve shot a video!
Sunday, March 20th, 2011EP Launch (London town)
Sunday, March 20th, 2011On 24th Feb, we embarked on a journey of huge proportions (well, we got a boat and a train) to the capital for our London EP Launch!
Twas an epic night, made all the more epic by our beautiful princess dresses (made by the talented people at Verb).
The place was rammed with people and it made our little hearts swell to see how many knew the words to our songs (granted, ‘I wanna be a popstar’ is repeated about 27 times in one of our songs, so maybe isn’t that hard to pick up… but still).
Here are some photos from the night. Big thanks to Thomas Orger and Laura Ward
(who is also responsible for our gorgeous EP photography) for taking such lovely pictures.
If you’d like to buy our EP, you can do so here (or alternatively, email us and we’ll pop a CD in the post) and if you’d like to buy our dresses you can do that here.
EP Launch (Isle of Wight)
Sunday, March 20th, 2011On Saturday 19th Feb, we released our debut EP ‘Hairbrushes for Microphones’ (which you can buy here or email us for a CD) and so, naturally, we had a party to celebrate! Here are some photos of the night:

Monday, February 7th, 2011Gearing up for our EP Launch…
Saturday, February 5th, 2011It’s only a matter of days now until we release our debut EP and excitement is mounting here at the Me and My Sister camp (NB: we don’t actually have a camp, but if we did, we’d probably have tents that aren’t waterproof but are pink).
To prepare we have…
a) done a live acoustic session on Head Funk radio, where we talked too much about Britney and forgot to plug our website (listen again will be up soon, for better or for worse).
b) Changed the strings on Vicki’s guitar.
c) Been practising like ‘practise’ is our middle name (which it’s not, because that would be rubbish).
d) got perms to celebrate.
e) Come up with a name for our EP… you ready? Drum roll please…….
‘HAIRBRUSHES FOR MICROPHONES’
One of the above is not true. To find out which, come along to our EP launch on 19th Feb!

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010Bestival 2010: Me and My Sister
Monday, September 13th, 2010This year, we were lucky enough to get a slot on the Bestival bill! For the occasion, we got new princess dresses, wrote new (mostly computer based) songs and enlisted the help of some incredibly talented musicians (Ross, Will and Luke)… but still it didn’t all quite go to plan. Find out what happened via the magic of our Barbie girl camera and her amazing video editing software.
Me and My Sister’s weekend of fun
Tuesday, August 31st, 2010Here’s a (barbie camera) video of our weekend of fun, featuring a gig, a tube, a tiny clip of us on stage (before the battery ran out) and band pratice in a moat. Oh, and a cat’s meow at the end.
